After praying for about 2 years for the Lord to direct me to a place where people were hungry for God and His word, I was introduced to Pastor Brian Hamilton of Winnipeg, who invited me to join him and his wife Linda on their next trip to Cuba. This will be 6 years ago in January 2015. And after the two pastors who started the mission called Cristocentro, showed us their plans and strategy which they had all mapped out on their computer, I became very interested. When I heard what they had already accomplished in a few short years I was convinced that God wanted me to be a part of this church planting ministry.
To-date, we have been able to recruit and train 160 missionary pastors, with missions, cell groups, and established churches all the way from Havana city in the west to near the city of Santiago in the east. By God’s grace, we have been able to do the following during this past year alone. We dedicated 6 more churches; we baptized 380 new converts; we established a Care Committee (with a monthly budget) to provide food and share the Gospel with the poor and needy; we started 30 new mission fields, which includes a mission center on Youth Island which is about 60 miles off the coast of Cuba. And with the help of another church, we were able to also buy a farm.
I praise God that the Leaders of Cristocentro are men who have vision, faith and zeal to move ahead against all odds to evangelize and plant churches, not only in Cuba but in other countries as well. In fact, the Lord has already opened another door about a month ago, when two of our missionary couples got invited to come to Guayaquil, Ecuador for 3 months of trans-cultural training which also includes preaching the Gospel in some dark and difficult places.
